John Madden has passed today at the age of 85.
For you kids out there who just know his name from the NFL video games- he was also the coach of the Raiders for 10 years and a broadcaster for 3 decades.
Most of us know John Madden from the broadcast both where he worked with Pat Summerall for years. The duo would usually call the biggest NFL game of the week. Madden would always entertain us by drawing on the tv monitor to explain plays or make funny comments. I can still picture him saying his trademark “BOOM!” after a big hit.
The NFL would not be what it is today without him and he will definitely be missed.
